Savage Round-Back Picatinny Rail Fitment Guide
Identify the receiver, select the action length, choose MOA, and match the correct EGW rail.
Quick answer
This guide is for normal Savage 10/110-family centerfire rifles with a round rear receiver. A factory AccuTrigger confirms that the receiver is round-back. If the rifle does not have an AccuTrigger, check the shape of the rear receiver before choosing a base.
Information needed
- Exact Savage model
- Caliber
- Whether the rifle has a factory AccuTrigger
- Center spread, if the receiver type or action length is uncertain
- The distance where most shots will be taken
Identify the receiver
AccuTrigger present: the receiver is round-back.
No AccuTrigger: look at the rear receiver bridge. A round-back receiver is rounded at the rear. A flat-back receiver has a lower, flat rear bridge.
3.930 in. = Short Action
4.630 in. = Long Action
Choose short or long action
Once the rifle is confirmed as a normal round-back 10/110-family receiver, the caliber usually identifies whether it uses a short-action or long-action base.

* .204 Ruger and .223 Remington were also used in other Savage receiver families. Confirm the exact model before using the caliber list by itself.

Choose 0 MOA or 20 MOA
- 0 MOA: normal recommendation when most shooting is at 499 yards and closer.
- 20 MOA: normal recommendation when most shooting is at 500 yards and farther.
- 30 or 40 MOA: specialty options. Choose these only when you already know that your setup requires that amount of elevation.
Choose a rail series
Standard Duty
Machined from 6061 aluminum. This is the normal value-oriented choice for short-action rifles and is also available as a lower-cost option for long-action rifles.
Hunter
Machined from 7075 aluminum. The Hunter rail is shorter and beveled at the rear, which can help with lower rings, larger objective lenses, and scopes that need to sit farther rearward.
HD
Machined from 7075 aluminum with a longer mounting surface. Choose HD when additional rail length is useful for moving the scope farther forward for proper eye relief.
Short action: Standard Duty is the normal starting point. Long action: Hunter and HD are the stronger choices; Standard Duty remains a compatible lower-cost option.

Before ordering
- Confirm the receiver is round-back.
- Confirm short or long action using the model, caliber, or center spread.
- Current Standard Duty, Hunter, and HD round-back rails include both #6-48 wide-head screws and #8-40 screws, plus a T-10 bit.
- Start every screw gently by hand. Never force the wrong screw size into the receiver.
- Use the live product page for current price and availability.
Still unsure?
Send EGW Support the exact Savage model, caliber, whether the rifle has an AccuTrigger, and the center-to-center distance between the two centermost receiver screw holes. A clear photo of the rear receiver bridge is also helpful.
