Tikka T3 / T3x / T1x Scope Mount & Picatinny Rail Fitment Guide
How to identify the correct EGW Picatinny rail for Tikka T3, T3x, T1x, and T3x TAC A1 rifles.
Start With Your Tikka Model
Tikka uses several different receiver and scope-mounting systems, so the exact rifle model is the most important place to start. Standard T3 and T3x rifles share the same EGW rail footprint, while the T1x rimfire and T3x TAC A1 each use their own dedicated mounting system.
| Tikka T3 / T3x | Standard centerfire T3 and T3x rifles share the same mounting-hole spacing. Short and long actions use the same EGW rail footprint. |
| Tikka T1x | Rimfire receiver with its own rail pattern. T1x rails are also handed, so right-hand and left-hand rifles require the correct version. |
| Tikka T3x TAC A1 | Uses a dedicated TAC A1 rail system and does not use a standard T3/T3x scope base. |
Tikka T3 & T3x
Standard Tikka T3 and T3x rifles use the same scope-base mounting-hole pattern. This makes rail selection simpler than on many other bolt-action rifles: the rifle's caliber and action length do not change which standard T3/T3x base fits.
Center spread is the center-to-center distance between the two center most receiver screw holes.
Standard T3/T3x fitment includes many common models such as the T3 Hunter, T3 Varmint, T3 Super Varmint, T3 Compact Tactical, T3x Lite, T3x Superlite, T3x Hunter, T3x Forest, T3x Varmint, and T3x Compact Tactical Rifle.
Choosing 0 MOA or 20 MOA
The amount of built-in elevation in the rail affects how much upward adjustment remains available in the scope. For most T3 and T3x setups, the choice is between 0 MOA and 20 MOA.
|
0 MOA A good choice when most shooting will be done at approximately 499 yards or less. |
20 MOA A good choice when most shooting will be done at approximately 500 yards or farther. |
Choose the rail for the distances you expect to shoot most often rather than an occasional maximum-distance shot.
Standard Duty, Hunter, or HD?
EGW offers several rail styles for the standard T3/T3x receiver. They share the same basic firearm fitment but differ in material and overall rail design.
| Hunter | Machined from 7075 aluminum with a shorter overall profile and no forward overhang. This provides more clearance for scope positioning and larger objective bells. It is our preferred starting point for many T3/T3x builds. |
| HD | Full-length rail machined from solid 7075 aluminum. A good choice when maximum rigidity or additional forward ring-positioning room is desired. |
| Standard Duty | Machined from 6061 aluminum. A dependable, lightweight option for normal hunting, target, and recreational use. |

Tikka T1x Rimfire
The Tikka T1x is a rimfire rifle and uses a completely different mounting pattern from the centerfire T3/T3x family. EGW's T1x rails fit T1x rifles including MTR and UPR models.
| Center spread | 2.508 inches |
| Construction | HD Series, solid 7075 aluminum |
| Handedness | Right-hand and left-hand versions are different. T1x rails are not ambidextrous. |
Choosing MOA for the T1x
Because the T1x is commonly used for everything from plinking and hunting to precision rimfire and NRL22, EGW offers more MOA choices than on many standard hunting rifles.
| 0 MOA | Neutral base for general-purpose rimfire use and shorter-distance shooting. |
| 20 MOA | Adds useful elevation for longer-range rimfire and many precision-rimfire setups. |
| 30 MOA | Intended for more specialized long-range or competition setups that require additional elevation. |
| 40 MOA | High-cant option for specialized extreme-long-range rimfire setups. Make sure the scope still has enough adjustment to achieve the desired zero. |

Tikka T3x TAC A1
The T3x TAC A1 looks similar in name to other T3x rifles, but its scope-mounting system is different. Standard T3/T3x rails do not fit the TAC A1.
The rifle comes from the factory with a 0 MOA rail. EGW offers dedicated HD replacement rails in 20 MOA and 30 MOA for shooters who need additional built-in elevation.
|
20 MOA A good choice for most longer-range TAC A1 setups through approximately 1,000 yards. |
30 MOA Intended for shooting beyond approximately 1,000 yards or setups that specifically require additional elevation. |

Installation Tips
Proper preparation helps the rail seat consistently and prevents problems with screws bottoming out or loosening.
- Make sure the firearm is unloaded before beginning installation.
- Degrease the receiver holes, screws, and mounting surfaces.
- Tikka receiver holes may contain factory debris, so make sure the threads are clean before installing the rail.
- Start each screw gently by hand. Do not force a screw that does not thread smoothly.
- EGW recommends 20 inch-pounds of torque for the base screws with a small drop of blue threadlocker.
Common Tikka Rail Questions
Does the same rail fit a Tikka T3 and T3x?
Yes. Standard T3 and T3x rifles share the same EGW rail footprint. Short and long actions also use the same mounting-hole spacing.
Does a T3/T3x rail fit a T1x?
No. The T1x is a separate rimfire receiver with a different 2.508-inch mounting pattern.
Does a standard T3x rail fit the TAC A1?
No. The T3x TAC A1 uses its own dedicated rail system.
Are T1x rails ambidextrous?
No. Right-hand and left-hand T1x rifles require the correct rail configuration. Dedicated left-hand 0 MOA and 20 MOA rails are available, while the 30 MOA and 40 MOA product pages allow handedness to be selected.
Should I choose 0 MOA or a canted rail?
Use a neutral 0 MOA base when the scope already has enough adjustment for your intended distances. A 20, 30, or 40 MOA rail preserves progressively more upward adjustment for longer-range use, but too much cant can make it difficult for some scopes to achieve a close-range zero.
Still Unsure Which Tikka Rail You Need?
Send EGW Support the exact model marked on the rifle. For a T1x, also tell us whether the rifle is right- or left-hand. If you have an older Tikka such as a 595/M595 or 695/M695, include that exact model information because those rifles use different mounting systems.
Use each live EGW product page for current pricing and availability.
