Winchester Model 70 Picatinny Rail & Scope Base Fitment Guide
Measure the receiver first, match the center spread, then choose the rail series and MOA.
| Measure before ordering. Winchester Model 70 fitment cannot be confirmed reliably from caliber, production year, or pre-64/post-64 status alone. Receivers may also have been drilled and tapped after leaving the factory. |
1. Measure the center spread
Measure from the center of one middle receiver screw hole to the center of the other middle receiver screw hole. Compare that measurement with the table below.

| Your measurement does not need to match to the thousandth of an inch. A normally rounded measurement is acceptable when it clearly identifies one listed pattern. For example, 3.8 inches matches the 3.805-inch standard/long-action pattern, and 3.51 inches matches the 3.514-inch WSM pattern. If the reading falls between two listed patterns, remeasure more precisely before ordering. |
If your center spread could still match more than one option: measure all remaining receiver-hole spacings and compare them with the dimension image on the product page.
If your first measurement does not clearly match: compare it with the complete center-spread list above and remeasure center to center. If none of the measurements match after rechecking, you cannot measure the receiver, or the correct pattern remains uncertain, contact EGW Support before ordering. We do not want to guess on Model 70 fitment.
2. Choose MOA
- 0 MOA: the normal choice when most shots are under 500 yards.
- 20 MOA: the normal choice when most shots are 500 yards or farther.
- 30 MOA: available only in the HD standard/long-action family and normally selected by customers who already know their optic and ballistic setup requires it.
3. Match the exact product
Standard Duty rails are machined from 6061 aluminum. Where listed, HD rails are machined from 7075 aluminum and provide a more robust option. HD is currently offered only for the standard/long-action and WSM patterns shown below.

Special exceptions: A Model 70 Coyote chambered in .243 uses the WSM rail. Some Featherweight Compact rifles chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor also use the WSM rail. Measure the receiver to confirm.

H&H receiver patterns
For an H&H receiver, confirm both the center spread and the rear-hole spread. The .325, .375, and .437 labels refer to the rear-hole spacing—not the firearm's caliber.

- Confirm that your measured center spread matches the selected rail family.
- Open the product page and compare its receiver-hole diagram with your rifle.
- If your measurements do not match exactly, contact EGW Support before ordering.
