Browning X-Bolt Scope Mount Guide

Use your rifle’s caliber, generation, and receiver-hole spacing to identify the correct EGW Picatinny rail.

Identify your X-Bolt receiver

Begin with your rifle’s exact caliber. Standard short-action X-Bolt rifles use the same EGW mount whether they are Gen 1 or Gen 2.

If your rifle is chambered in a long-action or magnum caliber, you will also need to determine whether it is a Gen 1 or Gen 2 rifle.

Rifles chambered in .223 Remington, .22-250 Remington, or .204 Ruger should be measured before ordering. Some rifles in these calibers use Browning’s Super Short Action spacing.

Measure the receiver-hole spacing

Measure from the center of one inside receiver screw hole to the center of the other inside receiver screw hole. Compare your measurement with the patterns below.

Choose the correct MOA

• 0 MOA: The normal choice when most shots are taken from 0–500 yards.
• 20 MOA: Recommended when most shots are taken from 600–1,000 yards.

Select the MOA for the distance where you take most of your shots, rather than an occasional maximum-distance shot.

X-Bolt Short Action

These rails fit Gen 1 and Gen 2 short-action receivers with approximately 2.940-inch inside-hole spacing.

X-Bolt Super Short Action—SSA

These rails fit X-Bolt SSA receivers with approximately 2.825-inch inside-hole spacing.

Gen 1 X-Bolt Long Action

These rails fit Gen 1 long-action receivers with approximately 3.692-inch inside-hole spacing. They do not fit Gen 1 magnum or Gen 2 long/magnum receivers.

Gen 1 Magnum and Gen 2 Long/Magnum

These rails fit Gen 1 magnum receivers and Gen 2 long- or magnum-action receivers with approximately 3.930-inch inside-hole spacing.
